Our NEW mental health booklist

Our first Reading Well booklist supporting common mental health conditions was a huge success with libraries and health professionals across the country. Since its launch in 2013, the programme has reached 778,000 people and the adult mental health collection has been such a popular resourse that we have updated the booklist for 2018, to ensure that library mental health and wellbeing collections continue to contain the most quality-assured, evidence-based health information possible.

The new scheme will launch nationally on Tuesday 5 June, with a flagship event at The Wellcome Trust in London, and accompanying regional launches in libraries and health centres and will replace the 2013 list. Our book selection panel of colleagues from public libraries, NHS England, Mind and many more collaborated to select the titles on the new list. The booklist is strictly embargoed prior to the launch, but librarians can email to request a copy.

Sorrelle Clements, Coventry Librarian and member of the book selection panel said:

“I hugely enjoyed working alongside leading experts in their field to select the very best books available that support good mental health and wellbeing. We developed a list ranging from popular memoir to tried and tested classics that health professionals turn to every day. This list cements the significant and important role libraries have in providing health literacy and information to the public.”

Supporting materials including leaflets and posters are available to order now from our shop, libraries can order before Monday 19 March to guarantee delivery for the week commencing Monday 14 May ahead of our national launch.
