Recommend titles for a new Macmillan Mood-boosting Books list

We’re working with Macmillan Cancer Support to create a new national list of Reading Well Mood-boosting Books. The books will be promoted in Macmillan cancer information points and libraries around the UK.

We’d like to invite people who have been affected by cancer to recommend their favourite mood-boosting books.

The books don’t have to be specifically about cancer, but they should be titles that you – or someone close to you – have found to be mood-boosting during or after treatment.

The books can be any genre – you might like to recommend fiction, poetry, a memoir, graphic novel or cookery book. As long as you found it to be uplifting, and you’d like to recommend it to others.

The first Macmillan list

The first Macmillan Mood-boosting Books list was created in 2013 and includes 20 titles.

These range from poetry book Of Mutability by Jo Shapcott and cookery book Jamie’s Ministry of Food by Jamie Oliver, to a range of uplifting novels including Travels with My Aunt by Graham Greene, The Last Runaway by Tracy Chevalier and Adrian Mole: The Prostrate Years by Sue Townsend.

Find out about the complete list of 20 titles.
